Overview

Manual Trading lets you buy and sell tokens directly without creating automated strategies. You're in complete control, choose which tokens to trade, when to enter, how much to buy or sell, and when to exit. Think of it like traditional trading, but with the option to attach automated exit strategies to your positions later.

Why use Manual Trading?

  • Quick entry - Buy tokens immediately without writing strategy code

  • Full control - You decide when to buy, sell, and how much

  • Learn by doing - Get comfortable with trading before automating

  • Test tokens - Try out new tokens manually before committing to automation

  • Hybrid approach - Buy manually, then attach an automated exit strategy

How Manual Trading Works

Manual Trading is position-based. Each token you buy creates a position:

  1. Buy a token → Creates a new position

  2. Position tracks → Your token balance, invested amount, current value, profit/loss

  3. Add more → Buy more of the same token to increase your position

  4. Sell some → Sell a portion to take profits or cut losses

  5. Close position → Sell all remaining tokens

Manual vs. Strategy Trading

Getting Started

Step 1: Navigate to Manual Trading

  1. Click "Manual Trading" in the main navigation menu

  2. You'll see the Manual Trading dashboard with three main sections:

    • Buy New Token (top) - Start new positions

    • Open Positions (middle) - Your active trades

    • Trade History (bottom) - Past buy/sell trades

Step 2: Select Your Wallet

Before trading, select which wallet to use:

  1. Find the "Select Wallet" dropdown at the top

  2. Choose from your trading-enabled wallets

  3. You'll see the wallet balance displayed

  4. Only wallets with trading enabled appear in the list (configure in Wallet Management)

Note: Your selected wallet is remembered for next time, so you don't need to select it every visit.

Step 3: Buy Your First Token

Enter Token Details:

  1. Token Address - Paste the Solana token contract address

    • Find this on DexScreener, pump.fun, or other token sites

    • Example: So11111111111111111111111111111111111111112

  2. Buy Amount (SOL) - How much SOL to spend

    • Example: 1.5 to buy with 1.5 SOL

    • Must have sufficient balance in your selected wallet

Optional: Trading Parameters Click "Show Trading Parameters" to configure:

  • Priority Fee - Gas fee for faster transaction confirmation

    • Dynamic Mode (recommended): Automatically adjusts based on network (Low/Medium/High)

    • Manual Mode: Set exact microlamports amount

  • Slippage Tolerance - Maximum acceptable price movement (default: 5%)

    • Higher slippage = more likely to execute, but worse price

    • Lower slippage = better price, but may fail in volatile markets

  • Lightspeed Mode - Use Lightspeed for faster execution (if available)

Execute the Buy:

  1. Review your settings

  2. Click "Buy Token"

  3. Wait for transaction confirmation (usually 10-30 seconds)

  4. New position appears in Open Positions table

What happens:

  • Transaction executes on Solana blockchain

  • Position is created with your initial buy

  • You receive tokens in your wallet

  • Real-time price updates begin

  • Attached strategy - If you have an automated exit strategy attached

Attaching Automated Exit Strategies

Once you've manually bought a token, you can attach an automated strategy to handle the exit:

Why Attach a Strategy?

  • Automated exits - Let strategy sell at your target price while you sleep

  • Consistent rules - Remove emotion from exit decisions

  • Multiple conditions - Sell at 5x OR stop-loss at -20%, whichever comes first

  • No constant monitoring - Strategy watches the market 24/7

How to Attach a Strategy

Method 1: From Position Actions

  1. Find your position in the Open Positions table

  2. Click the Actions dropdown (three dots)

  3. Select "Attach Strategy"

  4. Choose from existing strategies or create new

  5. Confirm attachment

Method 2: From Strategy Column

  1. Look at the Strategy column for your position

  2. If it shows "No Strategy", click it

  3. Follow the same selection process

Creating a Position Strategy

When attaching a strategy, you can:

Use Existing Strategy:

  • Select from strategies you've created previously

  • These strategies are shared across positions

  • Edit the strategy to fine-tune it

Create New Strategy:

  1. Click "Create New Strategy"

  2. Use Easy Mode or Advanced Mode:

Easy Mode (Visual Editor):

  • Set profit targets (e.g., "Sell 50% at 3x")

  • Set stop-loss (e.g., "Sell all if down 20%")

  • No code required

Advanced Mode (JavaScript):

  • Write custom JavaScript logic

  • Full access to price data and context

  • For complex multi-step exits

  1. Name your strategy

  2. Save and attach to position

Managing Strategies

Using Strategies Effectively

Attach strategies for:

  • Overnight positions (you can't watch 24/7)

  • Profit targets (automatically lock in gains)

  • Stop-losses (cut losses without watching)

  • Complex exit plans (sell in stages at different multiples)

Stay manual for:

  • Very short-term trades (< 1 hour)

  • When you're actively watching the chart

  • Learning - manual trading helps you understand price action

Manual Trading is perfect for learning, testing new tokens, or maintaining full control over your trades. As you gain experience, consider automating your exits with strategies while keeping manual control of entries.

Happy trading!
